Noom Weight Loss

the noom
diet hi i'm andy from calkine media and
you are watching calkin wellness and i
aim to keep you inspired to stay well
naturally today we will check out a
trending weight loss plan
the noom diet noom diet is a weight loss
and personalized
meal planning service available on the
noom
app it can be easily accessed on
smartphones
it was introduced in 2008 and since then
it has quickly grown into one of the
most
searched for diets in present times well
let us find out more about the noom app
and the diet plan that it offers
nume app is designed by behavioral and
personal trainers nutritionists
psychologists and the like just to help
people lose weight and stay
healthy and fit it aims at making
sustainable lifestyle shifts
rather than encouraging extreme styles
of eating
or not eating hence diet but the noom
diet helps to build self-awareness
accountability and habits nume app
encourages eating
real whole foods and uses a unique
traffic light system to rank food items
according to the level of calories
they contain so food items that contain
more nutrients and less calories
are categorized as green as calories
increase and the level of nutrients
decrease the food item gets pushed into
the yellow band
and food items with the highest level of
calories is of
course figures in the red zone so what's
unique about the noom diet
noob is different from any other weight
loss platforms because of its holistic
approach which i love
as it does not guarantee weight loss in
just a couple of weeks
rather it aims to offer lifelong weight
management solutions
through renewed healthy habits once you
log on to the noom app or website you
have to take up a personality quiz
for the app's algorithm to figure out a
personalized weight loss and
fitness plan for you based on your
health status
your goals demographics age and so much
more
you'll then be asked to choose between
get fit for good
and lose weight for good options next
you'll be given a second quiz on your
lifestyle
based on which the app will help build a
final weight loss plan
finally you will be asked to choose a
health coach
who will provide relevant dietary
information and advice
you can also access built-in tools to
help you track your fitness
blood pressure blood sugar and choice of
food most diets offered under noom are
said to be packed with a variety of
macronutrition so that's the protein
carbohydrates and fats
and there's also a limited amount of
unsaturated fat
then a range of micronutrients such as
minerals and vitamins and even
antioxidants
to get the most out of the noom diet
plan and meet your health goals you need
to record your total water
and food intake and exercise details too
so what are the benefits of the noom
diet well
noom's app's weight loss plan is backed
by a number of scientific studies which
is reassuring
it uses a psychological approach
cognitive behavioral therapy is a proven
psychological method
that helps you understand the
relationship between your
feelings behavior and thoughts
all the health coaches are certified by
the national consortium
and for credential health and wellness
coaches
but the noom diet only chooses healthy
food options
for you that can satisfy both your taste
buds and your body
the app aims to change your long-term
habits
and it doesn't give short-term solutions
so noom's
psychological approach aims to change
the eating habit
of yours or a person's desire to achieve
the weight loss goal and it helps
develop a sustainable
mindset around food in general wellness
and
fitness concepts but then there are
certain disadvantages too
should we go through those the
subscription of noom app is costly
the program starts at us 59
per month which may be costly for many
people
some experts feel the colour ranking
approach may result
in disordered eating habits as well or
an unhealthy relationship with food as
you go through
your codes noom does not offer
face-to-face
coaching services so if that's what
you're looking for
new may not be a right choice for you
noom app does not allow the user to
record
information so if you discontinue there
will be no diet record to refer to in
the future
while choosing any diet plan your aim
should not be just to lose weight it
should
also be bringing about a balance in your
life
exercise sleep and the other lifestyle
factors that all
play a major holistic role in your
well-being
and the best diet will be the one which
fits your lifestyle and sustainable
in the future term in the long term
that's what you want
so it's always a lifestyle choice not a
quick fix i say and if you like our

● Does NOOM Work?! | Review of Weight Loss Program After Completing It Myself!

Hi everyone i am nearly done
the four month introductory new weight
loss program
and today i am bringing you my unbiased
review
how effective is it is it enjoyable does
it work stay tuned and i'll let you know
my thoughts
hi there i'm jen least welcome to the my post if you've
never been here before those of you who
have
know that i'm kind of all about trying
to live on less and
most recently in the past number of
months i've been trying to
translate that life philosophy into my
eating habits
to eat less and lose some much needed
weight a friend of mine actually told me
about noom way back
in january and got me kind of thinking
about it
and i was so impressed by what she had
to say that i thought
i'm gonna hop on i'm gonna try this out
hey i was bored during the pandemic so
why not the initial program is about
four months long so i thought now that
i'm nearing the end of that four months
that i should hop
on here and give you guys all my
thoughts because i know a lot of people
are considering doing it and
is it really worth the money to do it
because currently it's north of 200
to commit to this program so um you know
you might be thinking why would i pay
200
for an app so i really wanted to dive in
and give you my thoughts on the program
if you are wondering about trying it
yourself also near the end of the video
i
am going to be sharing how much weight i
have lost on this program so make sure
you stay tuned for that
all right let's get into the nuts and
bolts first what is
new well basically it's a four-month
program like i already mentioned it is
an
app that you can have on your phone i've
never actually looked into it i'm sure
you could do it on your computer as well
but i just do it on my phone
and the idea behind it is that it's not
just
logging calories what you've eaten your
exercise for the day that type of thing
but
there's a whole course you're taking the
entire time that's
all about psychology so the premise
is that the reason a lot of people have
trouble losing weight is because of the
psychological
aspect of losing weight and because the
reasons that we
overeat are often in our hearts
in our minds and not a physiological
need
so every day when you go on this app
you're going to read articles
for the course you're taking and
learning and interacting journaling with
that
you're going to be logging everything
you eat
so any meals any snacks you're going to
be logging
and noom actually separates things into
categories
there are green foods yellow foods and
red foods so you can kind of guess green
means go red means stop
so the idea is to eat much less red
foods
kind of a medium amount of yellow foods
and a lot more green foods
green foods are your fruits your
vegetables
your whole grains your lean proteins
yellow foods are kind of the in-between
stuff low-fat dairies
lean red meats and then your red foods
aren't necessarily
bad foods but they're just what you have
to limit so fats even good fats like
olive oil
any cheeses that you might want to eat
avocado
any high fat meats these are your red
foods
so in my instance it calculated based on
my
age and weight how much i should be
eating a day how many calories and every
time i log a food
it will put it into green yellow or red
and it will show me
exactly how many calories i consumed in
a day
there's a huge recipe vault if you
follow me on instagram
it's just at gen least you will see that
i've been trying out some of these
healthy recipes
and letting people know what i thought
and that was a really great way to keep
me accountable but yeah there's lots of
meal ideas within the new
app you're also going to be logging your
weight each day you need to weigh in
every morning after you first get up
before you've eaten or drank anything
and you are logging your exercise as
well and every time you log in
exercise so say you do 30 minutes of
walking it will calculate how many
calories you burned and then it will
give you back
half of those calories towards your
calorie budget in the day for
eating so say your calorie budget like
mine was 1200 calories a day
and you did exercise that burned 300
calories
a day now your calorie allotment for the
day is 1350. okay
makes sense very mathematical very
scientific you are also part of an
online accountability group so if you
are an introvert like me
this program actually is probably pretty
appealing to you because
i probably would never go to an
in-person weight loss program where i
had to like go to an
in-person like weight watchers meeting
or something like that
i probably would go once and then i
would never go again because i just
can't handle being around people
all the time if that is you you probably
will really like this program because
you can actually choose to interact as
much or as little as you want with
a personal weight loss coach with your
team who are
going on the new journey with you and
losing weight together with you
you can interact as much or as little as
you want now
i would like to go in after experiencing
this for four months to the
cons and the pros of the program and i'm
going to start with the cons and then
i'm going to end with the pros just on a
high note okay
so the cons of this program as far as
i'm concerned the psychology aspect so
i'm saying this as someone who has a
university degree where i minored in
psychology
and it was too much psychology for me so
when you first start on the program
a lot of it's more like practical tips
for eating and practical tips for
getting through a day getting through a
craving
how to kind of replace foods with high
water density food so you stay full like
a lot of really great practical tips
but then it just gets into so much
self-help self-work on yourself
on your own mind and how it works on
your heart on your emotions
on your feelings that it gets to be to
me
it was actually too much so
i'm stuck at home right now with my
whole family
during another lockdown in ontario
and actually having to delve into my
emotions and feelings
so much was really tough and really
draining
and it got to the point where it really
wasn't focusing on what i was eating at
all which
and then i wasn't losing weight at all
because i'm just focusing so much my
feelings on my emotions
instead of actually on weight loss okay
so i see that as a major con i think
that's something that newm really needs
to tweak they need to work
more nutrition and behavioral stuff
into their program and cut back on the
psychology a bit
another call and i felt for this program
was maybe more of a personal one for me
and that was that i felt that i did not
lose weight
nearly as quickly as seemingly anybody
else in the world would
on this program um when i was in with my
accountability group there's all these
people that like literally the first
week they did noon they were like i lost
seven pounds or
there were people that were only halfway
through the program they just were two
months in
i'm already at my goal weight well this
was not
my experience and i will tell you in a
minute um
you know how much i did lose because i
did lose weight but um
my experience was so glacially slow
so to be putting in so much work
every day to this program and seeing so
few results was personally very
discouraging for me
now if you watched my cri genetics my
ancestry my medical dna videos a couple
months ago i will link them for you
here but if you watch my one on medical
you will know that i was really excited
when i found out my medical results
because i just started the new program
and my medical ancestry results revealed
that
my genetic genotype is not prone to
be overweight and is not prone to have a
slow metabolism
so i was like you know what i've got a
normal metabolism i'm not prone to
overweight i can do this
i will lose this weight and it's just
about my behaviors and my choices i'm
making
[Music]
i think i jumped to that conclusion a
little too quickly
and if anything what this program has
taught me it is
that i think i do have some medical
things going on
that are preventing me from losing
weight and i always had thought the past
number of years like
why can't i lose weight why am i always
gaining weight because i look around the
people around me
and i'm just as busy as them i'm just as
active as them
and i you know i'm going to the gym
every day and a lot of people don't do
every day to the gym
i'm eating half the amount that most the
people in my family eat my husband and
my children and i'm still
this weight what's going on and i still
just kept thinking
i still must be eating too much well now
i know because i was tracking on new
exactly how much i ate 1200 calories
which is the absolute
minimum you should never eat less than
that any dietitian will tell you that
even the new coaches will tell us that
that
no one no matter who you are no matter
what your height is whatever it is or
how much you have to lose
that's what you need just for daily
essential survival
okay that's what i was living on and i
still
wasn't losing weight so it taught me
that there is definitely something going
on i was
i was feeling sick a lot of the time
like with my blood sugars taking huge
dips dives up and down
and even like feeling sick to my stomach
when that was happening
so i think there's definitely something
going on with my blood sugar and
definitely something going on with my
thyroid thyroid problems do
run in my family and i know that i
likely have a very sluggish thyroid
and i need to get into my doctor to
investigate this and one con i had with
the new program is it doesn't really
account for that
it doesn't account for people who might
be diabetic who might
have issues with their thyroid and there
isn't a lot a whole lot of advice for
people who
are struggling through that so here i
was in this program with a lot of people
keeping accountable
and i don't think they had any of those
issues so on this program
yeah they're just losing weight like
gangbusters and i'm sitting here going
what is wrong with me why is this still
not working and i thought it was a fault
of myself
but i think it's probably something
medical so i can't necessarily blame
noom for my own medical issues but i do
think that
their app needs to adapt and account for
some of those issues a little more than
it does
what are some of the pros well the pros
are
the daily accountability i do think
that's really important i do think it's
really important to be logging your food
and be
logging your activity because it might
surprise you like when you first start
doing it i know a lot of people first
start doing and they're like
wow on a regular day i was actually
eating like 3 000 calories a day i
didn't think i ate that much but that's
what i was doing
so i think it definitely is good for
opening your mind to that
another pro is even though i didn't lose
as much weight as i was hoping to so far
i am feeling better so i'm getting more
nutritional foods they're focused
on water dense foods so a lot of your
fruits and vegetables
that is really good and i think that was
something that i was missing a lot of in
my diet so
having those vitamins in my diet i do
think is better for my system
overall and i do think that has been a
really positive change to just be eating
a lot more
salads and for breakfast just having a
lot more fruits and smoothies and
healthy nut butters and proteins i think
that has definitely been a good
change and less of the really starchy
sugary foods another pro is how
convenient it is right on your phone
and getting signed up for it is very
easy
it's very user friendly i will say that
so that is definitely another pro to
this program
and as far as i know there's not a whole
ton
of weight loss apps out there that are
this
um you know extensive and intense and
really all-inclusive i know there's lots
of apps where you can track your
calories or track your exercise
but this one is just so all-encompassing
and i really do appreciate that
they also do offer a lot of personal
support with personal coaches that can
answer your questions which is great i
did hear from some people who thought
that possibly their personal coach was a
bot
though because the answers they were
getting were very like just regurgitated
info from the course instead of actual
like human being
how human would word it so if that is
going on with new i hope they change
that and personalize it a lot more
okay so how much did i actually
lose on this program in four months
in four months i have lost 15 pounds
okay so some people maybe you're only 15
pounds overweight you you're like wow
that's awesome i would like to lose 15
pounds
um okay that's great but for me i was
hoping to lose a whole lot more than
that
and faster so basically 15 pounds is a
you know is less than a pound a week so
i was hoping more to lose one to two
pounds every single week
and at the end of the four months hoping
to have lost
you know 30 pounds or more and it didn't
happen
15 pounds is what i got and to me
because i know how my system is
i mean i could probably gain back that
15 pounds probably in a week you guys
so um i would like to lose ideally 50 to
60 pounds
so will i stick with the noon program
past
the four months to try to lose the rest
well to be honest with you guys i
haven't really decided yet
i'm not sure i'm going to finish up this
four months and see how it goes
i really do think i want to try to stick
with it so even though it went
so slow even though it took me four
months to lose 15 pounds
okay so then to lose my 50 to 60 pounds
that means it will
take me over a year that seems like such
a long time to me
and there's definitely lots of
opportunities over that year that i
could gain back get discouraged
but i really do want to try to stick
with it
maybe a little longer than the four
months and see if i can gain some
momentum
and see if i can get some breakthrough
and perhaps if i do get in to talk to my
doctor about the issues i'm having and
she has some advice for me
maybe i could be combining new with some
medications or something that would
maybe help
my thyroid or my blood sugars and help
get me
to my goals a little faster because i do
feel
that weight loss is important i feel
like i have fibromyalgia so i know that
the stress on my spine and my nerves
will be less if i'm carrying less weight
around
but if this program is just not working
for me then i need to move on to
something that will
what i say nume is a bad program
definitely not
i think definitely for the majority of
people
this program is going to work
wonderfully for you and i would highly
recommend it
so i'm probably in the minority with my
medical issues so please don't take this
as a deterrent
check the program out and see what you
think you can try the program for two
week trial for
absolutely free so that might be what
something that you would like to do as
well
just to feel it out and see if you like
it and um
see if it's for you and it's worth that
investment
and maybe i will do like a little new
update four months from now a little
check in and
see how it's going like maybe you guys
can just keep me accountable to keep
this going and not give up because
that is the point where i'm at right now
i just kind of feel like giving up
but i don't want to i want to see
success in this area
so maybe another couple months from now
i'll come on and give a little update
so have you tried nume are you
interested in doing nume
let me know in the comments below and we
can start a little conversation about it
i can't wait to see you guys in the next
video hope you're all having a wonderful
day
for the least this is jen
